Jon Tunheim
Professional Biography
Jon Tunheim has served as Thurston County’s Prosecuting Attorney since 2011, leading a team in a complex and fast-paced environment. He began with the office as an intern in 1990 and was later promoted to Chief Deputy Prosecutor in 2003. Jon earned his law degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law after moving to Washington from South Dakota in 1987.
His work with crime victims led to a strong interest in Hope Theory and how it applies to leadership. From that, he developed “Hope Inspired Leadership,” a framework he presents at the local, state, and national level.
Personal Biography
Originally from South Dakota, Jon moved to Washington for law school and has called it home ever since. His interest in leadership grew from real-world experience and a belief in the power of hope to shape people and teams.
He’s known for a steady approach, practical insight, and a strong belief that hope isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. Whether in the courtroom or speaking to leaders, Jon brings clarity, purpose, and conviction to the work.
